"before the Featherweight - Sewhandy Volume 1 History" is one of two books that I have recently written on the Sewhandy Sewing Machine. Volume 1 details the time before the Sewhandy design (early 1920's) thru production end (late 1938) of the Sewhandy, patents, model identification, Sewhandy ads and brochures, Sewhandy table, plus a OSANN SINGER Sewhandy versus SINGER 221 Featherweight sew-off. This book finally settles all those rumors. It also tells of the design and marketing of the Sewhandy. Unique information on the Standard Sewing Company of Cleveland, The Frederick Osann Sewing Company of New York, General Electric Sewing of Bridgeport, and the Singer Sewing Company and Singer Osann Corporation is also provided.
The companion book, Volume 2, covers maintenance & repair of all Sewhandy models, mechanical and electrical operation, advice on buying, restoring, shipping, parts, model identification, along with a specification comparison of an OSANN SINGER Sewhandy with a SINGER 221 Featherweight.
